On vous l'avait annoncé il y a quelques semaines mais voilà qui est confirmé: steam propose dorénavant des logiciels un mois en retard par rapport à la date initialement prévue.
Cette nouvelle avait créé quelques rumeurs alors de la part de distributeurs qui s'inquiétaient de voir arriver un nouveau concurrent et des détracteurs de steam qui y voient un nouveau moyen de poser des drm dans des produits non ludiques , bien que pour le moment les produits proposés ne soient qu'au nombre de 7 et plutôt orientés création et modélisation 3d on peut s'attendre à voir débarquer quelques applications supplémentaires notamment pour mac délaissé pour l'instant au profit de windows / les titres proposés pour l'instant sont: artrage studio pro camerabag 2 gamemaker: studio 3d coat 3dmark vantage 3dmark 11 source filmmaker attendons de voir dans quel sens se dirige cette boutique qui pour le moment ne fait pas trop trembler la concurrence mais qui risque de voir arriver de bonnes applications développées par des studios indépendants On vo Lire la suite

Gabe newell pdg de valve vient d'annoncer via un communiqué que le 5 septembre sa plate for me de téléchargement de jeux pour mac et pc steam sera ouverte aux applications [...] On connaissait surtout steam pour ses 40 millions d'utilisateurs et les jeux in house propulsés au top comme counter strike portal ou half life.
Certaines applications pourront également profiter du steam cloud soit le système d'enregistrement de fichiers ou de préférences systèmes déporté de steam pour pouvoir partager documents et sauvegardes entre plusieurs machines / ce mouvement s'opère deux mois avant la sortie de windows 8 et s'inspire du mac app store et des market qui accompagnent de plus en plus les différents os | le catalogue compte un peu moins de 400 jeux mac pour le moment mais en ouvrant sa plate for me aux applications et en leur ajoutant les fonctionnalités du steam work valve pourrait sérieusement s'implanter dans le marché du software grâce à sa notoriété et un système évolué ; en milieu professionnel il est peu probable que cette annonce provoque le moindre émoi mais chez les particuliers cela pourrait constituer une véritable avancée en permettant de centraliser tous les logiciels commandés via un seul tableau de bord : le catalogue de produits ne risque cependant pas d'être très étoffé surtout vis à vis du mac app...
